About

Andrew Lloyd Webber´s romantic musical masterpiece may have been at Her Majesty´s Theatre in London since 1986, but it never grows old, and it never loses its magic.

Based on the eponymous novel by Gaston Leroux, this bewitching and thrilling musical revolves around the story of a disfigured, ostracized musical genius that lives under a lavish Opera House in Paris, where he is known as the Phantom.

A tale of social exclusion, love, obsession, jealousy and passion, it has impressed countless audiences over the years, and remains a staunch theatre-goer favourite to this day.

The show has won numerous prestigious awards, including various Tony and Olivier awards, which is no surprise, considering its fantastic stage design, its sumptuous wardrobe, incredible special effects, and of course,  its memorable musical score, that includes much-loved tracks such as “The Music of the Night,” and the famous “The Phantom of the Opera".

Just like the Phantom himself musically suggests: "close your eyes and let your spirit start to soar" as the fantastic cast bring this timeless classic to life at its beautiful and historical home, Her Majesty's Theatre. Although there has been four theatres on the site of Her Majesty´s since 1705, the present building was built in 1897, for the Actor-Manager Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree, and it is not without a ghost story of its own! Legend has it that the marvelously named Beerbohm that worked and lived inside the theatre still haunts one of the top boxes to the right of the stage, and can frequently be felt by a drop in temperature!

The Phantom of the Opera musical has become one of the most successful shows of all times, having been performed in 145 cities across 27 countries. In the West End, it is the second longest running musical in history, and on Broadway it boasts the title of the longest-running show.

A musical theatre experience that everyone should enjoy at least once in a lifetime (some many more, returning time and time again!) - it will prove to be a hauntingly beautiful night to remember!
